This sword was originally sold as part of a lot of weapons in the Turner’s Hercules and Xena auction in 2001. I bought it from a private collector this year.
It was used in the Hercules: The Legendary Journeys episode, “Centaur Mentor Journey.” Actually, you can see it being forged in the episode by the Smith (John Freeman) who is making it for Gredor (John Mckee).
The sword is made of hard foam around a metal rod and the outside is coated with resin and painted. The lion’s head device on the hilt has been removed; probably to be re-used elsewhere.
A sword like this was later used by Hephaestus (Julian Garner) in “Love Takes a Holiday.”
