This costume started life as one of Kevin Sorbo’s stunt Hercules costumes. The shirt was modified for use by Sharon James, Alexandra Tydings’ stunt double, in HTLJ “Love Takes A Holiday”.
It was then modified again for use by the chimpanzee in HTLJ “Yes, Virginia, There Is A Hercules”. Production created gauntlets there were ultimately not used. The chimp who was cast was apparently very difficult to work with.
Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci originally pitched Chimpules as a full episode when Kevin Sorbo was unavailable during season four. The idea eventually became Porkules.
